SSH is a cryptographic network protocol for operating network services securely over an unsecured network. The best known example application is for remote login to computer systems by users. SSH is known as Secure Shell.
SSH only available within Linux platform with default port 22.
However, due to nature of attack these days most people and provider usually change this default port in order to avoid brute force attack that will causing slowness machine or slowness network. It is advisable to change the default port to something else.
In order to login to SSH, if you are using windows you will need download putty first and choose putty.exe section (32 or 64 bit will do). If you too confused where the link located at, then may choose this link below instead.
Before you login, please make sure you have these necessary information needed such are :
- hostname or server IP address
- port SSH that used to connect for
- root password
Then may download and connect through.
You will see there are 2 box I highlighted with blue color and green color. You need to fill the hostname or IP address within blue box and port number within green box. Then proceed to click Open.
You will see after that a box with black screen appeared.
You will need to login as username that gave from provider. In most case, they will give you full access as known as root. Therefore, when asked login as you just need to type root and also type it’s password.
You will noticed that when start to entering password, no character displayed on it’s screen. Why? Yes, it’s normal. Just continue to type the password as your provider gave to you and proceed to hit enter. A few moment you will entering it’s server via SSH.
